By the way. My username is in homage to the infamous bar in Puerto Rico, which burnt down, I believe. It certainly opened my young eyes to a whole new world back in 1985. Didn't sail much out of San Juan myself so I'm intrigued by your bar reference! Tell all!

A good night at The Yachtsman. The Wine Bar was an experience but didn't reflect the real B'linglingsea. Good photos and Minutes - exactly as I remember the meeting. Me and Jant parted company somewhere in the suburbs but Jant pointed me in the right direction so I got home ok. Hope Jant did as well. All in all a good Meeting and I would encourage any newcomers thinking about coming along to the next meeting, please do. You'll be very welcome. LL

Goes to show what a good night it was. It wasn't the Yachtsman, it was the Yacht Club ! Far more respectable, and a good choice. LL

Jant - I think we'd have heard by now if anyone had turned up at the yachtsman?
Have you seen Marks Newsletter #2 - almost ready for publication. An excellent piece of work. Lets hope it brings a few new photogs out of the darkness!
Cheers all, Kit

Hi Mark - I see the newsletter has hit the streets now. All good stuff. ;D Looking forward to seeing some new people joining us here on the Forum. The link to the forum on the website hompage was out of date - I've changed it now so it works first time. However I'll need to check out all the other links throughout the website to make sure people actually get here when they press the lnik! Welcome to our forum, one and all. Kit

Good Morning, friends. I hope I am welcome, though not an MPS/CCP person? My name is Dr Jo Stanley and I haven't worked at sea though many of my Liverpool family have (Merch and RN too). I write about aspects of maritime history that normally get overlooked (like people working as photographers!). If you like you could check out my website: www.jostanley.biz. Your fascinating website came to my attention while I was trying to find out about the history of shipboard photography for a book I am writing about the history of women working at sea (including engineers). History Press, 2015. May I ask you if any women ship's photographers (or men who worked with them) would kindly help? Would they please get in touch with me to help me understand what it was like to do that work and live that life? I've talked to women photographers sailing in the 1990s and today. But would really like to hear about the earlier period. For example, why might it have been assumed an unsuitable job for a woman? Thank you. Jo. (We could do this by phone, if you liked)
